Hello All

I am getting phone calls asking - so here it is!!

As of today - most area lakes have walkable ice. Keep in mind larger lakes like Pelican, Gull, ect will have little ice the further out you go. I have checked alot of the area lakes and have found 5-11 inches of ice.

Now for the bad news - every lake I have been on has slush. Most have spots with no slush but good luck finding them! Walking, driving the wheeler - both make for great fun when you hit a few inches of slush

Fishing reports --- Walleye are going strong! 18-26 feet near weeds/rock mix seems to be the #1 -- glow jigs and fatheads are takin most of them but a plain red hook is a strong #2.... Northern pike are unstopable - lots and lots of action above the weeds from 9-15 feet of water. sucker minnow on a tip up seems to be the #1 here ..... Panfish - I am doing wonderful! seems this is more of a hit and miss! sunfish are also slow. Best seems to be small glow ant jig, 15 to 20 feet  - watch the depth finder!

Good luck and be safe!

What a beautiful Christmas we are havin in the Brainerd Lakes area!

Here at camp RandyMan there is a light covering of new snow, it’s COLD so the lakes are growing ice! And fishing is pretty darn great!

We are sticking close to home for this holiday so I have been out a lot! I am looking forward to getting a good friends family set up on some crappie for there 1st ever Christmas on ice!! They will be set up on my secret spot fishing from my big house on wheels – yep! Found just enough ice to get it out! Lots of slush but was worth the work!

After they are set up its back here for a feast with our neighbors (friends, day care, family) and some ice skating on the pond!!

Here is the report!

Walleye – best bet is near sundown, 18-25 ft, find some weeds, rocks anything with extra structure. I have had my best luck with a pimple and fat head – tap the bottom every now and then to call them over!

Northern – Action is out of this world! I have only gone 1 time but have been watching the action on area lakes – tip ups set in 9-15 feet just off main weed line, ½ way up and BAM!

Panfish – the sunfish are all over the place! I have even picked a couple up 20 ft down! Best bet is on top of the main weeds with a small red jig and a wax. Crappie – I am getting my share but for most this has been hit and miss. I would say find the deepest hole, set up on an inside curve at 15-25 ft. glow jigs are a must! And keep an eye on the depth finder!

May you all have lots of laughter in your life! Here is a little something that may make you laugh, I laugh every time!!!! ! Its one of my favorite – you are only young once but can be immature forever!

I hope you all have a safe, enjoyable holiday!
