About the Author:
 My name is Jeff Phelan and I currently live in Central MN. It has been a long journey getting here however. I grew up in the small town of Goderich in SW Ontario about 3 hours from Detroit. After graduating with a forestry degree in 1995, I spent time with the Ministry of Natural Resources (Canadian DNR) as a Canoe Ranger and a forest fire fighter. From there, I was lucky enough to become a fishing guide on Lake St Joseph in NW Ont. I guided a family from MN and took a liking to their oldest daughter.
Here we are now 10 years later and I'm married to that MN girl with a 7 yr old daughter and a 5 yr old son. We have made an annual pilgrimage back to NW Ontario every summer. One of my former colleagues on the water owns a resort called the Silver Water Wheel Lodge on Lac Seul. Some of the pics you see on JustNorth are from those trips.
I now work as a Sales Manager in the forest products industry. I spend my free time enjoying fishing, hunting, and all outdoors sports. I believe in conservation of all resources through catch and release and selective harvest. I am also a big supporter of technology to enjoy the outdoors.
